Hi

We've got a DK280 with a doubled-up RCOU1 / RCOS1. One of the lines (#4) has no dialtone. If I swap ports on the RCOU1 line #2 goes dead and #4 comes up. I am assuming a bad RCOU board, correct? What am I overlooking?

Thanks for your help.

Tom

Do you have dialtone on all four lines? check for dial tone at the end of the jack going into the RCOU card

I've got dialtone at both jacks. However since there are two lines at each jack, how do I check which one is giving the dialtone?

I had a bank of test jacks installed at the demarc and checked line 4 there. Have dialtone at demarc.

you most likely have either a bad crimp or card
unless you have a replacement i'd replace the modular plug first. cards are getting cheap though.

Since the problem moves when you swap lines, the card is good. Line 1 (or 3) is on the center pins, line 2 (or 4) is on the next pins out. Most likely a bad crimp.

Thanks for the replies. I tested continuity on the plug and it looks like a break. I called our phone guy who installed the test bank at the demarc. I'm guessing that's where the bad crimp is.
