Hi Guys!
Here's the senario: I have a DK280 system, and I want to change out a PEKU and 8 electronic phones with a PDKU and 8 digital phones. The PEKU card is currently on slot 11. I've already purchased all the new equipment and I'm ready to make the swap. I know that I will need to change the card type in Pgrm 03 from a 21 to a 61, and power off and power on the system.
Here are my questions: 1. Does the system need to be powered off while the card is swapped, or is this not necessary? 2. Do I need to swap out the card and then change Prgm 03, or change Prgm 03 and then swap out the card. 3. Am I missing anything else, or is this pretty much all I need to do?
Thanks for all your help!!

Prior to doing anything ,if you have admin software and laptop I would do a back up . then:
I would 1- pull the PEKU 2- change prog 03 to 61 3-power down 4- put in PDKU 5- turn system back on.
You can change the cards with the system on ,but since you need to power down I would do it this way
If your in thru admin software and the ability for a simulated off/on ,then leave the system on.
Just in case I would document the button appearances in prog 39 of the analog sets your removing and recheck the dk sets after the change

After I pulled the PEKU card out of slot 11, I went to the program phone, which is on a PEKU card on slot 12 in the system, and changed the code in Prgm 03 to 61. Went back to the system, put in the PDKU card and then rebooted the system. After I powered back on, and confirmed the system had power, ALL system phones had no power, not just the 8 that were on the card I replaced. I tried to reboot, didn't work. Finally, I put the old PEKU card back in, rebooted and then all system phones had power again. Any idea what caused this?? We have a mixture of PEKU and PDKU's on the system. Do you think the processor can't handle any additional digital cards??

Program port is 005 in slot 11
So leave the Peku in do your 03 to 61 for slot 11
try pulling peku /shut down / put in Pdku // repower and see if that works
also check the small white fuses on right side of cabinet push in gently
We are talking about slot 11 correct.
Are you sure the PDKU is good ?
Were all 8 of the electronic sets on old peku unplugged ?

As far as I know the PDKU card is good. The person I bought the card from said that she tested all 8 ports and they were working fine.
I did unplug all 8 of the electronic phones before switching out the cards. Can't I also change system programming from Port 013, which is on a PEKU card in slot 12? The 005 program phone would be on the card that I'm switching out.
Would I reset the white fuses while the system is off, or wait until it is powered back on?

Replace one of your current PDKU's with the one you purchased and see what happens. I am with KENB are you sure your PDKU is good?

Try removing the second pair of jumper wire from a port or try using a two-conductor line cord. But plug in only one phone on that card.

I finally got the new card to work. I ended up having to reset the fuses, which I thought was kind of weird, but it worked. I was beginning to think the PDKU card wasn't good, like you guys said, but it ended up working. Thanks for all your help!

For what ever reason, removing a PEKU and replacing it with a PDKU will cause the 24 volt circuit breakers to trip. I have seen this MULTIPLE times and the only solution is to push them in while the PDKU card is installed and power is on.
This ALWAYS fixes the problem. It would seem that it should not be so, but it is.
