I'm hoping someone here can help me out. We just installed a new mail server in our office (SBS2003) and now Unified Messaging from our Toshiba StratagyES system is not working.

I went into the Mailbox editor on StratagyES Administration, to Unified Messaging, and pointed the mailboxes to the new mail server, but that's apparently not all I have to do.

Do I need to do anything on the new mail server? I wasn't with this company when the StratagyES system was installed, so I don't know much about it or how it interacts with the mail server itself. Would appreciate any help.

Does the new server have the same IP as the old one? You have to thell the VM system what it is in System Parameters.

Also, does the new server require authentication?

No, different IP address.

Where in the system parameters do I specify the server IP address? I've so far made the following changes in the system parameters:

Old:
sys_smtpserver_gateway - bigpapa.smylocal.com;25
sys_smtpserver_host - vmserver.smylocal.com

New:
sys_smtpserver_gateway - smydc01.smy.local;25
sys_smtpserver_host - vmserver.smy.local

Bigpapa was the name of the old server, whereas the new server is named SMYDC01. The old settings worked with the old server, but the new settings do not work with the new server.

Did you restart Stratagy?
What do you have the DNS pointed? Stratagy has to resolve the name. If you have it set for a public DNS then it can not resolve the .local domain.

If it is a fixed IP you can specify the IP address there.

Run a trace and it will show you what's going on. If you don't know how or what to look for, have a Toshiba dealer come out and do it.

I fixed the DNS setting and restarted Stratagy, and it's working again. Thank you very much for all your advice, I really appreciate it!

While I've got a thread going...when I receive a voicemail from an outside caller, all I get as the sender is "Unknown Sender". Is there a way to integrate Caller ID with this system, or at the very least, display the phone number itself instead of just "Unknown Sender"?

I should probably just start a new thread for this.

I don't think that Stratagy can pass call info to Exchange, but I could be wrong. For full telephony integration, you would need the Office Communications Server - but this is overkill for anything below 50 stations, imho.

in system paramaters there are different options for caller id, though you might be out of luck if what sph said is true...

(cant wait for the sip based 'strataMessaging' to be released, looks like it has some nice features)

Actually I found out that if you change a setting in the phone system to caller ID enabled in the VM SMDI setting that it will show caller ID in the header.

I have done many STratagy ES installs and left that setting defaulted to disabled. It wasn't until recently when a customer asked the same question. When I enabled the setting it showed the Caller ID infor in the email.

That change is to the phone system through emanager, not the ES administrator.
