Is it possible to enable caller id in the CTX100 using eManager? Service provider says that they are sending the CID info. How can I check? Any assistance will be greately appreciated.

Yes, but there are several ways to accomplish this. First thing is to know your systems hardware.

To check for Caller ID on copper lines, just unplug the mod plug on the RCOU and plug into a $10 Radio Shack CID box and dial the number. To check on a PRI, you can use hyperterminal to monitor the D channel via the serial port on the RPTU and a PPTC-9.

You can also connect your test set to the line, call the phone number and listen for the CID string between the first and second ring.

Thanks for your feedback. The service provider told me that the CTX100 settings has to be changed on the trunk assignment but need to know the card number. I am no way a telephony expert but any clue will be helpful as to how to come up with the six digit number. Thanks.

2 digits for the cabinet, 2 digits for the slot, and 2 digits for the port. If the RCOU is in slot 2, then use 010201-010204.

That's great - I did reverse mapping and found out the on cabinet '01', slot '05', i have a 'RCIU/RCIS - 4 or 8 port caller id' interface. Looking at the trunk assignments, Equipment Nos 010501 thru 010508 is already in use. The trunk line I am trying to enable CID, 16th line in the PBX, not sure whether I can use 010509? If I try will anything can wrong with the unit? Based on the previous line settings, came up with the following:
Trunk Line marked 801
Signal Method to 'CLASS'
Contents to 'ANI and DNIS'
Equipment No '010509'
Ring Start 'Disabled'

The RCIU/RCIS card in 0105 is only an 8 port card. There is no 010509. If there is only one set of RCIU/RCIS cards, then you CANNOT support more than 8 lines of Caller ID.

Where are the RCOU/RCOS cards? If you have 16 lines, then you will have 2 sets of RCOU/RCOS for the trunks.

That's what I thought. Let me check the cabinet and let you know. Thanks Voyager.

An update - the card I have in the system can only handle 8 port max. I have 16 incoming lines which means I have to upgrade the card to a card that can handle more than 8 ports. I called a local tech and he is currently pricing the card. Thanks for all support.
