Hotel installation, no PMS integration.
When calling from the front desk to a guest room the display says that the room is vacant. The room phone can't call out. This is happening to most (possibly all) guest rooms.
This began just after I connected a previously unused SLT extension - but I since found an unused port I did not go into programmming.
Looking for clues to what happened. Did I hit a dial code?
Other factiods: System has a Strategy DK in-skin voice mail. Hotel is largely vacant (off-season here)
I recently took over support for this site, so I don't have a lot of historic information. Hotel management changed and I don't know who took cae of it before. The MDF definitely belongs in the "Ugly Work" thread.

An unplugged DKT will give a "STXXX VACANT" response when dialed. Try plugging in a digital phone and see if it works. A programmed SLT port will always ring whether or not a SLT is connected. Do the guest rooms all use 2500 type sets? If so, you may have connected an unused digital port to the room.

All of the guest rooms are SLT/2500 sets. This is happening in at least 30 guest rooms that the manager checked so far.
The new extension (also a 2500 set) was working when I left yesterday. The manager indicated today that that was OK - but I have not personally verified it.

Do you get dial tone on all the analog ports using your butt set on the system blocks at the MDF? See if you can narrow it down to a specific cabinet, card slot/or slots. It could be a bad power supply or a circuit breaker on the power supply. I'd also check the card slot programming and take a couple of RSTU cards to aid in trouble shooting.

I'll have to check that when I'm on site - probably Monday. So far I'm making guesses based upon what the manager said. He said he tested from the rooms and "couldn't call out" - as opposed to 'no dial tone' or 'dead phone'... but you are right, I need to confirm that.

Press the white breaker buttons on the power supply of the DK424 cabinet(s).

Got on site and confirmed that one of the four power supplies was dead, just as BobRobert suggested. Also confirmed the display phones did say "STXXX VACANT" when you called those ports.
Circuit breakers didn't reset it... found no voltages present on the output power connector, etc. Also, several of the screws holding the power supply to the chassis were missing - this unit has been replaced before.
Thanks for the help and suggestions.
(After 30+ years I should know better than to take "Couldn't call out" at face value.)
