I'm off this week celebrating the arrival of LilReb #2 and am trying to get a STS ready to install on Monday. I've got a VM card(Slot 7) and a LCOB in slot 6. I'm trying to figure out how to reset the system so it will reconize the the line card. I've done Flash 24 and put in a 15 for slot 6, but then it says to reset the KSU and the only thing I can find in the manuual is a softreset using the software.

Press the RESET flexable button (Flash 80 button #20) and you should get a message[RESET SYSTEM PRESS HOLD] Press HOLD, you won't hear a comformation tone it should just reset. Make sure you have switch 8 in the off position before doing this

DON'T use switch 8! This will reset everything to "out of the box" default! One you've initialized the system (battery switch on, power cycle, move switch 8) do a system reset with the little white button just to the right of the dip switches on the system processor board. You did good with the Flash 24.

I'll give that a shot, the book just says after doing flash 24 do a reset by pressing the reset button on the BKSU. I was wondering if they meant switch 8 or the the little push button next to the dip switches.

One thing that you may also have to do if you do not have music on hold is "RINGBACK ON TRANSFER" [Flash 6 button 11] The default is music on hold during transfers. My customer did not have music on hold and callers were getting silence for about 20 seconds until the call was forwarded to VM.

Just wanted to say thanks for the info, the problem was I was putting dip switch 8 off but I had never flipped the other little blue battery switch on. If the book mentioned that switch, I sure overlooked it. Also this may help somone else. The manual says the DB9 cable used for programming MUST be a Null modem cable, but according to tech support the book is wrong, and that solved my only remaining problem. The correct cable is a straight through cable. Thanks again for the help.
