Without knowing which system you are referring to, it's hard to say. If it is an sts or xts you would need to program button 01 on the slt ext as a pool or line key. Then you would enable button 01 for offhook button preference. Both are done in flash 51 page b. Don't forget to make sure your lines are assigned to the pool group and that unused lines should be in a group other than 01. Use 00.

If you don't have programming knowledge of the system why not get the fax book and change the settings to dial 9 before the number. I can usually fumble through fax settings on fax machines and get this done.

it is an sts, all other ext grab outside line from hunt group by pressing 9 except the slt ext. I don't have much experience with vodavi, have a couple of customers with existing systems that I usually just move stations around, program buttons and such.

Just do as Don said. If you just want to be able to dial "9" then program button 01 as a loop button. If you want off-hook pref, make it a pool.

Can you dial 9 from a display phone or do you get dead air? If so, go back and review Don's suggestions.

This will work.
Flash 50 enter station number twice
Page B Button 10
Enter 01+1+Hold
Page B Button 11
Enter 01+3+01(line grp #)+Hold

That will make it pick up last line in group 1

That should fix the problem
