Hey all, System: Triad S 5000 with Infinite & Uni-phones. Software ver: 4.14 Voice mail: MiniVoice Infinite phones: 9015-71 Uni(XTS)phones: 3012-71 Just set up....AA / voice mail operating smooth...just wont turn on MWI-Light above LCD on phones. * Set "Light control" FL 50 btn-5 for Voice mail. *Reset MWI in VM system admin programming. *On Infinite phone tried with and without DSS voice mail key (440) ...that would not light when active...noticed in manual it will light that only if its programmed onto DSS button. Neither lite up. *Reset/power-cycled KSU and voicemail. Any suggestions? This is my first experience setting up a Vodavi VM...so maybe I'm overlooking something.. so don't assume I "checked that" already Thanks.

I know with the Minivoice you had to make changes in flash 65 and 66, maybe 67. This is probably where your problem lies. You will need the installation guide to walk you through it. I don't remember off the top of my head what the changes were.

Make sure that all the ports are working on the MiniVoice by calling each of them individually. There is a certain port that lights the lamps.

The MiniVoice set up screen should show if the last port is assigned for the notification port.
Then put a butt set onto the last analog station port assigned to the mini voice and manually dial the message light code to make sure it works.
Like oobi says, it wouldn't hurt to dial each port but I'd use 440 to confirm that each port is properly assigned to the voice mail group. Busy out each port that answers until all ports are checked for incoming.

You guys are all awesome! Thanks for the quick replys and good info! I'm going to check these things out shortly and will post back the results. On a already bad note this unit has been behaving weird after my initial post...wont go into all the details...I read a post by Ed that these units were prone to anomalies...it just so happens I have another one ..hopefully that one's behaving normal..going to see if I can get the first unit going right..if not the second one's going in.

Okay...
The issue was that all four ports weren't connected due to confusion with amphenol "breakout adapter" pinout..so you guys were barking up the right tree. Now that all four are connected I'm getting MW light on Infinite phones ONLY...I get MSG on the display on the Uni/xts phone ( and had the beep tone going as well). Apparently that's a compromise that I have to accept with a Uni-phone on a 5000 cabinet.
Thanks again for the suggestions/help!
Now to work out the kinks..if possible.

You need to program a flex button on the UNI phones for 440; it is not there by default. That isn't a compromise at all. All will be good after that.
If you are receiving true quirks from the system, this would be a good time to capture a database backup. I assure you that it will get worse as time goes by. Those things haven't been made for over ten years, so the memory battery IS failing. The 5000 series KSUs will not operate once that battery is gone.

Hey Ed,
I had tried that with the VM dss button...but was before I got the port issues straightened out. ...but yes...that DID the trick for the UNI phone!...the only problem is it's a 3012-71..only 8 buttons!...using a lot of manual codes already on this phone...might have to upgrade to a 3015-71 (wish they made something in the middle between small or huge / 9015's are good for buttons but the UNI's look much better) Anyway...on a side note I discovered that these things do NOT like it if you don't put the analog ports in numerical order. I figured as long as they were all listed into the VM group all would be fine.(as mentioned earier I used an older amphenol breakout which had the ports skipped when using standard 4 pin line cords...which put the ports as follows 8>10>11>13). Once I terminated in a straight order the "anomolies" were resolved.
P.S. This is my "home system" and I did change the battery in it a couple months ago.

I don't remember if the infinite 8-button has a Msg button to notify you of new messages but I would think a 440 button is more useful than other codes.
There was also a Triad 12 button TR9014-xx but that was discontinued a long long time ago.

There was also a Triad 12 button TR9014-xx but that was discontinued a long long time ago. The infinite 8 button did have a message waiting lamp, but not a fixed MWI button. You had to use a flex button for either message waiting or voice mail. Granted, the Triad 90XX phones have been discontinued for quite some time, but they sure are plentiful on the secondary market. Barry, I agree with you about some other variation of the UNI phone series. Just a few more buttons would make the 3012 so much more versatile.
