We have a NEAC 2000 IPS system.

We are experiencing failed calls busy signals and outside callers who say that the system tells them they have dialed the wrong number.

Our PRI's are set to use the secondary PRI when first is busy.

The phone company has setup a trap but still can't figure it out. Is there a way to tell if is internal...

Were they working for a long time prior to this failure?

They were working ok, once in a geat while this would happen, then all of a sudden its been doing it for over a week.

Our installer also manages the system a reputable company yet, they can't figure it out.

Usually when you get an intercept that says the line is disconnected it is an LEC issue not a hardware issue. Sounds like something got boogered up on the translation side in the CO of the carrier. I would also check with the carrier and find out what settings they are using it isn't uncommon for some one to program a PRI with some weird settings.

To see if its internal try an access a line on the PRI that is in doubt and call a DID on that PRI if it goes theu it most definitely is a carrier issue. You see a lot of translation issues when a call comes into the CO that PRI is out of but when you call from that PRI back in on it bypasses issues in the translation.

Do you know what type switch the carrier has the PRI on? If it is a 5ESS switch, the carrier should be able to pull protocol error messages. I work in a central office on a 5E and often use protocol error messages to identify where the problem lies. There are numerous reasons you would see these issues. Has the carrier checked the T1 for errors? Is this only happening when calls hit the second PRI and if so, have they busied out the first PRI and tested?
