Has anyone been able to use the toshiba laptop with winspm to program a legend with direct connection. Windows XP is the operating system. I can dial in and be transfer into the legend; but I can not get a direct connection. Have no problem with my ibm laptop.

Windows XP may be your problem. XP dynamically assigns ports, rather than having them physically addressed, like preceding versions of Windows. When you say "direct connection," I'm assuming you're using the serial port on the PC. I've even stopped using NT for this, since port configuration is a pain. Best I've found is Win 98.

Wim 98 and 98 second edition works well. Windows XP will give you a problem. I use my Toshiba laptop with 98 and it gets into everything. I also use Windows ME for winspm and it works fine.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, the direct connection was from the coml port on the pc. I might consider removing window xp and installing window 98 on it or continue to use it in the dial in mode. I was just wondering if anyone else was able to use xp on a toshiba to program with winspm. Thanks again

Doug

Doug,

Have you tried telling XP to emulate a WIN98 computer when you run Winsp.

Good Luck!!

I am using XP without any issues, but I am using WinSPM 6 instead of 7. I am doing a reload for a new drive and I plan to go with version 7. I will let you know how it goes.
