My computer recently started doing this;
when I bring up a new web page, Google for example, the page comes up quickly and if I start typing info in for the search, it seems to miss the first character that I typed. It doesn't seem to matter what web site I go to. Even this site, bring up the log in page and when I start typing my user name, it will miss the "t" and start with "w."

It never did this before and my pages still seem to load up quickly. If I hesitate after loading the page, it works fine.

Any ideas?

I've always noticed that while a page is loading, if I start typing into the address bar or google bar, as soon as the page is done loading, the website document recieves the "focus". One thing I do, is set the start page to be "blank document", so that I don't have to wait for it to go out to the net to find first look up the address, and then download it before being allowed to change where I want to go. I hate the default MSN start page for IE....

If you "mouse over" the toolbars at the top and you get an hourglass that means something is still loading. What happens if you wait maybe 30 seconds before attempting to input the information?

Just tried it again and I'm not getting the hour glass.

I'm using Mozilla and I use the multiple tabs option all the time. The reason I'm mentioning that is I can open another tab, which means there's no home page to load at the start. If I then click on my Google shortcut, it is loaded (I checked, no hour glass) and when I type my search request, it will miss that first character unless I wait about 4 or 5 seconds.

I know it doesn't sound like a lot of time but when you are use to it not being like that you tend to be a quick draw! :rolleyes:

I know what your talking about twisted pair. My IE 6 does the same thing,..............but have only noticed it on Google.

The page will be fully loaded and the cursor will be blinking in the search bar but, unless I wait for say 15 to 20 seconds it will not recognize the first 2 or 3 letters I type. I thought is was just my PC.

Good thought! I haven't used IE in quite some time so I just tried it and it appears to be fine.

And yes, it's just like Mike described, the cursor is there blinking but it doesn't take my entry.

Its a minor glitch in loading Mozilla. Are you using Firefox? Latest version? you just need to give it a second to load and you should be fine.

Yeah, my firefox does this, and I just type too quickly for it. If I give it half-a-second to load, it'll work. Once the site is completely loaded it gives priority to text fields such as Google Search.
