Hi,

I am wondering if there is any type of landline based phone service (POTS) where multiple callers can dial in and receive information (in this case AFSK signal for Teletype use). The communication would be one way, i.e., from my TTY 'base' to anyone who wanted to receive what I am sending. There would be no need for the information to start at the beginning for each caller, they just call and the two tone AFSK signal would be heard. The idea is that someone at any time of day or night with a TTY and a terminal unit could dial in and be able to receive what ever I am sending in a continuous loop.

I hope that I am clear about this, but I do not know what to call such a set-up.

Best,

Joe

It's simply a call center without the Indian accent.

To how many "customers" do you wish to provide this service at a time? 10, 100, 1000?

A customer calls your number, the incoming call hunts to a vacant port on your system, and upon ring trip, your TTY "voice" is transmitted back to the caller. When the customer hangs up, the trunk is available for the next call.

You need, at minimum, a conference bridge with the appropriate number of portals (we're talking central office grade, if you want five-nines reliability) and a bunch of incoming trunks at $24.99 per month. A T-1 would probably be cheaper, if you plan to have fewer than 24 incoming trunks at first.

Since the message is one-way only, you could actually just make the conference bridge yourself, using a ring-trip ckt per trk, (I used xener diodes for my cheese box, back in the 1970's) some repeat coils and a honking big amplifier.

There's also a SIP solution, if you want cheaper trunks, but that requires VoIP knowledge, of which I know less than nothing. Check with an Asterisk Wrangler for the solution.

Could also be a simple mailbox. Just set the box not ring at a phone. My system (Avaya Definity) would also have a "bulletin board" application for what you need. Of course, it does depent on how many will access the message.
