Anyone experienced dx80 phones "freezing". The phone can be in use or idle and it will stop responding. The display keeps working and whatever buttons are lit will remain lit. When the phone freezes pressing other buttons has no effect. Once the phone "unfreezes" any buttons pressed while frozen will be stepped through. If the the phone is unplugged and plugged back in while in this state nothing works. The customer says this may happen once every two weeks and can last anywhere from a few minutes to half an hour. It doesn't happen to all phones at the same time. So far the customer is aware of 4 phones that are affected (101,104,114,115). Software is A40. Any ideas?

As you have sets from both the main and add-on boards involved, do a cold start and what happens. If you are around when a freeze happens, unplug the set a connect direct to the ksu.

I was at the customer's today when a phone was frozen. I took it to the KSU and it worked fine. Of course when I took it back to the jack it also worked fine. It could have "unfrozen" in that period of time between unplugging it at the jack and plugging it in at the KSU. We already have changed phones and moved it to a spare jack at the user's location with no improvement. Regarding the lightning strike, what was done to solve the problem?

Your going to need to do a cold restart as Jwooten said in order to move forward. If afterward the trouble returned I'd replace the CPM. as a test. Do you keep a crash kit? Mark

After cold starting would you recommend reloading the saved database from a laptop or re-entering the database "by hand". Crash kit? Unfortunately we don't keep the kind of spares on hand I would like to have. We have a DX80 on hand but it is A33 software.

I would re enter if it's not a complicated database with toll restriction and stuff.
You can get upgrade chips for free or real cheap from Verticle / Comdial. You could also swap the chips from the existing board as a test of the CPM, but new chips in the test CPM would be best. If you can't get chips send me a PM. Mark
