I'm looking for a caller ID box that I can use on a second phone line. Or an adapter that will cross the two-line connections so I can use a 1-line CID on the second phone line.

Is there anything out there that will work for me, short of buying a new 2-line phone with CID?

you don't want to "cross" the two lines. A CID box can be purchased for 10 bucks or less at Radio Shack or Wal-Mart.

Thanks, Mark. I'll have to look again, because the CID's I've seen at those stores will only work on the first phone line and won't connect to the outer two wires for the second line.

I'm talking about 2 seperate units, one for each line. Radio Shack did make a 2 line unit but has since discontinued it. If the lines are on one jack you can use 2 units with a line 1 line 2 splitter, that's a radio shack or home depot item also. I don't know if anyone makes a 2 line CID unit. Try googling "2 line caller ID"

Try this https://www.sandman.com/callerid.html

Thanks, guys. The answering machine switch will probably work.

I have a 2-line splitter, but the second line still comes off the two outer contacts and the CID boxes I have only use the two inner (line 1) contacts for the incoming phone line. So the splitter won't work to connect the second line to the CID box.

Mark: Got it. Found the L-1, L-2 splitter you were talking about and it works just fine.

Thanks. laugh
