After a recent lighting storm our DXP is no longer commuinicating with the voicemail pc and thus users voicemail status and soft buttons are not working.

I've looked through VMMI over and over again but can not find where I can tell the DXP to comminicate with voicemail on port 8, 9, ot 10 instead of port 7. I can see where I set the port parameters.

I'm trying to determine if one or both serial ports are toast.

Any hints? :confused:

You're going to need someone who knows how to troubleshoot the serial ports on the system, unless you can frog the ports to smdr to see if they send call reports. This open forum is for more user related issues or simple direction, we can't walk you through the steps here. You can contact your dealer/installer/vendor for assistance or seek tech support from an installer or moderator here. Expect to pay for their time if they can help you.

I'm just looking for general direction not step by step trouble shooting. My question is where is vm serial comminucations assigned to port 7.

The last 3 Comdial dealer/installers we've had have closed up shop so we've been managing our 3 DXP systems and 200+ phones within our IT depatement for several years now.

I would like nothing more than to find a reliable Comdial tech in the Northwest Atlanta area and make it their problem to fix. Of course, paying for service is completely understandable.

There is no assignment in programming in the DXP only the correct baud rate and no flow control. The voicemail software has programming for which port is used on the PC.
As Mark stated we cannot go into much more detail in the open forum. If you do not have a dealer in your area you can contact any of us via PM for off the board assistance.
