I have a customer telling me they are getting a message indicating they have a fax waiting along with the other voice mail messages. I did not do the original install on this system. The customer tells me that they have never used the fax with this system. I have checked the programming and found only one extension v/m that had code 1468 (FAX OK) set for 'YES'. I changed it to 'NO'. I am told they are still getting fax message. The operation / configuration menu code 1247 (FAX MAILBOX) is set to 'NONE'. The original vendor "didn't have a clue" and didn't try very hard to correct it.
Any Ideas?
Thanks in advance

I've never used the fax feature myself but it sounds like you have checked the programming OK.When does it say that there is a fax message? Is it a particular mailbox that says it has a fax message? And when you say they are still getting fax messages, you mean new ones or is it this one you can't get rid of?

Three extensions: 210, 211, 216. 210 is the attendant with 211, and 216 as "backups". Is it possible that fax's hit the AA through one of their hunt lines and the AA just defaults it to the attendant even if the fax mail box is not set? These are new messages. I'm told they can and do delete them.
Thanks for your reply.

i've used the fax features of cadence. did you check to see if maybe the default day or night general mailbox 000 allows for faxes? check all active mailboxes. also did you delete the fax messages from the mailboxes. I never understood why samsung discontinued cadence it was feature rich and fairly simple to use! the training i spent to get certified was a waist!!!

If all 3 of those mailboxes are getting the faxes do they also all get the general delivery messages?I'm starting to think that there is a group mailbox involved that sends the general messages to all 3 mailboxes.Check the general delivery mailbox and see if it's set up as a group mailbox. As for the Cadence, yes it was pretty darn good and had some great features but there is/was a good reason for its demise as far as the stories I've heard. The new SVMi voicemail is still pretty good and I prefer a flash drive to a hard drive for most applications.

Thanks again for the reply's. Affirmative on 000 as being a group mailbox with the said extensions. Negative on 000 allowing faxs. I have checked all the mailbox's associated with extensions. I have found that there are mailbox's being used for off prem. users. I will have to get the list being used and check those. Maybe one of those is set as a fax and includes the general box in a group, then the general box forwards it to the victims.
This is the first time I've dealt with a Cadence system, it seems pretty straight forward.... maybe a little too straight forward.... that worries me....
Thanks again.
