I have the OS Softphone working on Vista.

I used the vista compatibility option to set the application to run in XP mode, and it works OK.

OS Call and OS Operator also work in the same way.

In the long term however, Samsung will need to modify the applications to work in standard Vista mode.

IT are being intensely strict on who is allowed copies of Vista right now, so I haven't been able to do much in the way of testing, but it's clear all our apps need to be modified. Most of the apps are able to run in the compatibility mode, but the web apps are all totally broken from what I can tell, and nothing runs natively for Vista.

It's in process, and we're hoping to have everything done by September / October.

Sorry I don't keep a more frequent eye on the boards, I get tied up and forget to check it.

I am working on making a more formal communications path between myself and you guys, something in the way of a developer blog or maybe a mini forum of some type.

CTI is one of those things that really can only survive with feedback and near-constant evolution, and filtering things through sales and tech support doesn't always give me the kinds of information I am looking for.

Being as that's the kind of thing the internet is supposed to do I figure I might as well use it...

Shawn,

Hi, I did a quick test of the Web applications on Vista and they all seemed to work.

ie Dataview, WebMMC, and EasySet

(Vista Business, IE7, working in standard mode.)

I didn't try and load every page, but all the ones I opened worked and displayed correctly, even the Dataview Wallboards.

So there maybe not as much work for Samsung to do as you thought.

I am still wondering whether or not OfficeServ Call will support 64 bit Vista. It doesn't support Windows XP 64 bit at the moment and i've been told by Samsung that they will be rewriting the software.

Fingers crossed! I hate being the only one in the office who can't use the software frown

If your talking just about softphones Ed I have installed the softphone on Vista and it works just fine without changing anything in the Vista machine.

Ok, Ed when you install the Softphone right click on the mouse and do the compatibility on the setup program not only on the Softphone application. Hope is helpful.

OK I was finally able to get Vista in the lab to do a full bout of testing.

Here's my test results. Note that this is me talkign to you guys, if you call tech support the official answer (per my request) is still "Vista is unsupported".

That said:

Nothing works 64 bit. Those versions are coming later this year/early next year.

Call works fine, so does Operator and Link. Softphone is hit or miss. Sometimes installing in compatibility mode works, sometimes not. Sometimes it installs fine no changes, sometimes not. Sometimes running as admin helps, sometimes not. I've not been able to get it installing in a manor I am confident enough to say it works.

I have a version coming down the pipe soonish that is absolutely Vista compatible for everyone. Just have a little mroe testing to do on it for other features that are being added.

EasySet and DataView are both "broken". You can make them work, but it takes a lot more effort than it should because of the fact Vista's IIS is MUCH different. Both of them have versions coming in late September to make them Vista compatible.

I try to update you guys as I get info, bear with me on the fatc it's sometimes slow coming...
