Can anyone explain the difference between Stranded vs Solid CAT 6 cable?

Stranded is used for the manufacture of patch cables and is not rated for use as building wire. It is only stranded to provide more flexibility. Solid wire is used for the actual cable runs. Most IDC connectors (jacks, patch panels, etc.) only handle solid conductors.
