We have one laying around our shop and I will be servicing one here pretty soon. Its been almost 10 years since I touched an IDS and need some help with the connections. I looked through the programming and it Luckily has the VMS download there. On the back of the Infostar I obviously see where the single line ports go and from there I dont remember. Our CPU only has one RS232 port so where does the RS232 on the back of the Infostar go? Im thinking it used to go to the operator console or maybe the back of a 29k phone? Dont remember. Have a few more questions but first id like to get the connections straightened out.

By the way, I still have my EDocs CD from way back when I was certified in Milford CT. (oh what a great time we had back there) and as you know that CD was made for Win95 or Win98. Is there a way to view that CD using XP, im getting the password prompt from Adobe. And of course, my only manuals is on there.

The RS232 port on the CPU is used for Voice Mail Intergration (VMI)to the I/O panel on the phone system.

1. You can add I/O expansion module to 84 CPU for second RS-232 port OR you can just use in-band (DTMF) integration. To use RS-232 integration you'd need both VMS and VMI loaded on CPU. Sounds like you'll be using straight DTMF integration...
2. EDocs needed to be "installed" to work properly (i.e. work without password prompt). EDocs also geared around acrobat reader 3.0 - if you have newer version of acrobat - during installation you need to navigate to your version of Acrobat's plug-in folder (I think there was a hint given during install process).
Good luck
Mike

I don't have VMI so it looks like it will be DTMF, for some reason I thought RS232 had to be used.

I will have to play with the CD a little more.
