Does any one have the ul standards on burglar systems that relate to how far can an opening occur before an alram is sent? also how many steps are allowed before an alram occurs before a motion detector activates? also what is the max db for an outdoor siren or bell?

Hello Fyretek and welcome to the board. Please complete your profile so we know who we are talking to and you may get more responses.

As for the UL standards, I'm a Canuck and we go by ULC standards so I am not much good to you. I could not locate anything myself. Having said that, I would be supprised if there is a standard on what you are requesting. If you think about it, take a contact for instance, they are rated in "gap distance." You can buy contacts with a 5/8" mag/reed distance up to a 6" distance for commercial roll doors. Same with a motion detector, a single zone vs a dual zone vs pet immunity would change the "number of steps."

As for a siren or bell, I know there is a regulation for minimum and maximum db for a fire system and it varys according to location. For an outdoor burg system, we are governed more by the maximum allowed for local municipal noise bylaw.

Hi, thanks for the welcome and the info, I guess what i am realy asking(without getting any one in trouble) is if anyone has the UL standard 681 and 1641. those items are listed within those standards, and i can not afford to buy them from UL now ($215 each us)So just wondering if any one has those and could look it up if they did.

thanks.
