I have always been a Honeywell guy...Though I hear the DSC panels are pretty solid. The big plus to DSC is the are available from multiple distributors so you are not stuck with just ADI for the panels. their are a few DSC guys around here I am sure on will chime in shortly.
Given the choice between Ademco or DSC I'll go DSC 100 percent of the time. I'm not knocking Ademco in any way. In fact, Ademco was the first brand I learned and I've installed hundreds of of them over the years and they were all good systems. But in the past DSC had a few neat features that Ademco did not have such as Auto Arming (The system arms it's self at the desired time of day). And I like DSC's download software a great deal more also.
And like vad says, their tech support was excellent the few times I've had to call them. The hold time was considerably less than the times I've waited on hold for Ademco tech support.
i like Honeywell/Ademco better than DSC mainly because most of their stuff is interchangable with other systems such as first alert pro and people like that
yea i know but its really nice when you have another company you can get parts from and you dont have to worry about whether most parts will interchange. i have never tried putting a first alert keypad on an ademco system or an ademco keypad on a first aler system what happens when you put do that
They just won't work properly. I tried to do it because I wanted to reduce the number of keypads I carried on the truck to program systems with before everything went to laptops for programming.
In those days I had about 5 different keypads for various systems and they always got beat up in the truck or I would use on for an emergency repair and be without the one I needed on the next service call.
