Does anyone know how many phones the 2811 will support? We just merged one of our offices, and are having trouble with the cisco config.

Getting several phones stuck at IP configuration. we have about 33 phones in that office.

also,

Can someone help me with translation-rules and profiles? We can't get some of our DID's to work and can't get any fax calls.

I'm used to DID routing on pbx systems, and this cisco crap is really confusing. I have started my cisco cert path, but am working through ccna right now.

Thanks in advance for any help,

-Jon

Go into telephony-services.
1.) max-ephones ?

I believe it is 24 but I will check tommorow.

2.) You may also want to do a "max-dn ?" command.

Remember to do a create-cnf when you are done.

Translation rules range from simple to complex. You can have up to 15 rules per translation. I usually try to convert the incoming DNIS so I only have to create one rule. Here is a simple example.

voice translation-rule 1
rule 1 /8633442455/ /8100/
rule 2 /8633450343/ /8210/
rule 3 /8634145640/ /8300/
rule 4 /8634142455/ /8400/
rule 5 /8634145648/ /8888/

This is if your carrier is sending you 10 digits and you want to PLAR to a specific DN or overlay DN. You could also use wildcards for a group of DIDs. This get a bit more complex but not bad. You can test the the translation by doing a "test translation-rule 1 8634145648" and it would tell you it translated it to 8888 (which could be an ATA or FXS.)
