I have a customer (potential) that is going to use a Viking Door entry system. He is going to use it for 2 locations, a door & gate to the property. He is not going to be home, he is going to be away most of the time. This is my question. I'm thinking that if he would use the VOIP part of this system & either use a soft phone or IP phone that he could just press a programmed button for the door strike & open the door or gate.
Now this is going to be my first SBX install. I'm going to be on the biggest learning curve of my entire phone career. Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated. I want to hear from everyone with SBX experience.
Thanks David

Oh boy, you are going to need some luck with this one, but it should work out okay.

I have a SBX installed with an SBX doorphone. The customer opens the gate by pressing a programmed felx button on the phone. I can see where if you had a voip phone on the system you should be able to do the same. That said, the code to open the contacts for the viking are the same and if the viking is using the CO line and the voip has access, it's sounds like it will work.

The voip programming wasn't the easiest thing to do. It didn't make sense compared to an XTS, but it is doable and works well. Make sure you have a public IP and don't try to work behind a router or a firewall.
