Anyone ever notice the keypad dialing on an SMT 5243 the way it's slow, delayed and trips up and seems to catch up. Real awkward like when dialing a phone number?

Mine all seem to do it. I upgraded mine too.

V4.70 and earlier...

I know that there was a version on the smti 5210 that every key press took 10 seconds before it would advance. Walking through setting up one phone would take between 5 to 10 minutes.

I can totally overrun my 5243 when dialing fast and it has to try to catch up. I cannot on a 5230.

If I have LCR enabled, and using either SIP trunks or analog CO lines, only on a 5243 I can totally outrun the keypad. My digital phone or my 5230 SMT phone seem fine. It just seems to be the 5243s. I have had this problem since day one. I have upgraded the phones and I have also tried a brand new one right out of the box today.

This makes the dialing awkward. I am a fast dialer and some of my customers have noticed too once they get experience on the phone and start to dial fast.

If I dial 9 + number without waiting on a hot keypad and dial fast, it will totally outrun the phone.

It seems to be easy to do. If I dial 9 pause, 1 pause and wait for it to grab a trunk then it seems fine. If I just use the hotkey pad and dial 917023103100 as fast as I can without delay it gets lost real fast and has to catch up. That is a test number I frequently use and is answered by an automated attendant if you'd like to use it but any number obviously does the same since this is the initial dial out. You could just go 91212121212121 as fast as you can and enjoy the clumsiness of the phone. That makes for a good test. Dial 912121212121212121212... as fast as you can as you'll see what I'm talking about. The 5230 seems to not do it but just the 5243s.

If I disable LCR and dial a trunk group i.e, 802 and dial as fast as I can I can also outrun the phone but not as obvious. If I wait for it to grab a trunk by dialing 802, pause then dial 12121212121212121 then it seems okay.

Please test and see what y'all come up with,

I had a similar issue on a very old firmware 5210.
I couldn't even software upgrade it, i had to factory default it and then it worked fine

They all seem to do it. With LCR on, just dial 91212121212121 as fast as you can without lifting the handset.

Do you way out run the phone?
