After much discussion on this site (thank you) I reduced the backplane volume to -13 to reduce echo. That has worked very well. However now callers somtimes have a hard time hearing me and I have also noticed that DTMF tones don't work ie. when you call a company and have to press 1 for this and 2 for that.
We have analog trunks from Bellsouth. Can the telco reduce the volume of the trunks so that the backplain can be set to more normal setting? Would this help my problems or should I be looking at somthing else? Also if and when I call Bellsouth what terminalogy should I use so they will understand my problem? Thanks for all the great help!!!!

You could put resistors on the trunks yourself to pad them, then put the backplane attenuation back where it belongs.
60% of the time it works every time

Thanks for the reply. Are the resistors a normal way of correcting these kind of problems or is this something the telco should do for us?
