We have an ESI 200 and several remote locations using small ESI systems. We use ESI link. We are trying to program a feature button at a remote location to accomplish paging at our main location. We can page manually with #7005. We cannot figure out how to program the feature button to accomplish this. It acts like we have programmed the feature but when we test it does not work. Is this feature possible? If so any hints?

OK. More info would be helpful.

1. What are the actual ESI systems at the remote locations?

2. Are the actual digits that you are dialing # 7 0 0 5 ?

3. Most ESILink systems use the 700 numbers to identify the systems connected via ESILink to the main system. This should mean that, let's say the 200 is 700 and remote site 1 would be 701 and the remote site 2 would be 702, etc. Unless some number changes have been made I am not sure what you are accessing with the digits that you are dialing. Are you trying to do an all page, zone page or overhead page?

The main system is a 200
The remote system is a 50 and is connected via a network connection (It is several hundred feet away and we have fiber connecting the 2 offices)
The main system location is 700
The remote location is 701
We can page manually by dialing #7001 - with 1 being a phone page group.

We would like to program a feature button at the remote location ( ESI 50 location 7001 ) to "dial" #7001.

Thank you so much

I may have the nomenclature wrong. We have phones with 30 available buttons. I thought these were called feature keys. Perhaps they are called Dsx key. If not can you tell me what a Dsx key is?

We are a medical facility and am trying to create the easiest method for the staff. This key would initiate an over head for "Code Blue" I do not want the staff to have to remember page zones speed dial numbers etc.

The ESI Link manual indicates that it is possible. Neither our local rep my IT staff have been able to get it to work.

It is called a DSS key question for you do you have a certified ESI reseller in your area. They would also be able to assist you.

When I mentioned programming it as a speed dial key you would program the digits that need to be dialed and on that button it would be programmed as the speed dial bin you assigned those digits to. Which in turn would set that button as a one touch key. There for problem solved.

If your local rep is authorized he can call tech support and if it can be done they will tell them exactly how to do it.

I haven't dealt with paging at a remote site enough to be much help. You can certainly program a 701 key which gets you intercom dialtone at the remote site and they could page from there.

Remote paging can be a key feature providing you have things set up at the remote site properly.

We have several clients who have one button remote paging access but the set up requires some work. The suggestion for you to contact your ESI dealer is a good suggestion. If the dealer can't figure out what to do, he can certainly contact ESI tech support and they can walk him through the steps to do it.
