I am brand new to these forums..I hope someone can help us out! At work, I am in charge of the phone system, but that is not saying that I have great knowledge, so forgive me if I don't use the proper terms. We have since May 2005, a Vodavi Starplus STS system with flash based VM. We have virtual mailboxes, and mailboxes assigned to stations. All was running fine until a fuse blew, our phone contractor came out, (the same people that installed it in May 2005,) replaced the fuse, but had to re-program every phone in the building. All was brought back like before, except for one issue that they cannot figure out how to fix. The boss has a direct telephone line that only rings at his station, #106. Before the reset, if he did not answer that line in about 4 rings, it would automatically connect to his voice mail at station #106. Now, it just rings and rings with STA #106 never picking up. The phone contractor tried for four hours to try to get it to pick up, but could not remember how to program it. Our contractor has not worked with Vodavi products in 4 years, and they simply cannot get that phone to answer. They have given up. The operator can still transfer people to his voice mail, so it does work. We just cannot get that station to answer that line when he is not there. I searched the internet and found some call forwarding solutions, but this was not what he did before. When he left for the day, he never had to set anything to make voicemail pickup after four rings. Can anyone help us with this and make the boss happy again?

If you can get into programming flash 50/51, you set his phone for preset forwarding to voice mail, that way any outside call that gets transferred to him goes to voice mail as well as calls on his private line as long as that line is ringing on his phone only. If you only want calls on the private line to go to voice mail you have to preset forward that line in flash 40 programming.
I cannot give you the passwords to get into programming here.

The phone contractor left me the passwords..I believe they are the correct ones.
I would only want his private line to go to voice mail if he does not pick up after so many rings.(I think that it used to be 4 rings.)
I'm not really sure what "preset forward" in flash 40 programming means..

If you have not done a co line preset forward before, you will need documentation and if you still have trouble making it work you will need a technician.
Preset Call Forward - CO Line Description The Preset Call Forward Destination feature enables a CO line to initially ring at multiple station(s) and forward to a pre-determined destination. The destination can be a station (DKT-SLT), Voice Mailbox, UCD group, or Hunt group. Each CO line has a Preset Forward Timer. Each CO line also has a VMID field to allow sending of specific VM digits when a CO line forwards to a VM group. Calls ringing into UCD Groups or Voice Mail Groups continue to ring the group. The CO line does not forward when ringing one of these types of groups.
Programming Steps first enter admin programming then take the following steps... 1. Press FLASH and dial [40]. The following message displays: 2. Enter a valid number for the range of lines being programmed. If only one line is being programmed, enter that number twice (001 001). 3. Press HOLD to save the entry. A confirmation tone sounds and the display updates. Flexible Button #19 (Page A) is lit.
4. Press the Page B flexible button (Button #20). The following message displays: XXX-XXX = CO Line Range 5. Press the PRESET FWD DESTINATION flexible button (Button #5). The following message displays: 6. Enter a valid forward destination on the dial pad. [100-149] = Station Extensions [440-447] = Voice Mail Groups 1-8 [450-457] = Hunt Groups 1-8 [550-565] = UCD Groups 1-16 7. Press HOLD. A confirmation tone sounds and the LCD display updates. DEFAULT … No destinations are assigned. Preset Forward Voice Mail ID Description The Preset Forward Voice Mail ID feature allows a programmer to assign which digits are sent to voice mail when a CO line is programmed to Preset Forward. Programming Steps 1. Press the PRESET FWD VMID flexible button (FLASH 40, Page B, Button #6). The following message displays: 2. Enter a valid number on the dial pad that corresponds to 0-9999 for Voice Mail ID digits. 3. Press HOLD to complete the entry. A confirmation tone sounds and the display updates.
Press Button #21 to select Page C. The display updates. The following message displays to indicate current programming of that line or group of lines: XXX-XXX = CO Line Range 4. Press the PRESET FWD TIMER flexible button (Button #8). The following message displays: 5. Enter valid number on dial pad which corresponds to 00–99 seconds. 6. Press HOLD to save the entry. A confirmation tone sounds and the display updates. DEFAULT … CO Line Preset Forward Timer is set at 10 seconds

Thanks. I will attempt this. One final question, should I do this from the boss' station itself, or from Station 100, which I guess is the brains of the operation.

Station 100 should also be the admin phone.

Thank you Derrick, you are the man!
After a little trial and error, I was able to make the bosses phone pick up after four rings and transfer to his voice mail.
My vendor could not figure it out after 4 hours of trying, and wanted upwards of $200/hour to come back and try again.
You saved a small government agency a lot of money. Thank you again!
