I have to figure out a way to use ext #210 (it must be #210 specifically) to direct callers from the auto-attendant to an extension or to a voicemail box on an IVX128 C Class. There's only 1 branch ID programmed on the AA now which is a main greeting for night mode. Easiest solution would be for ext 210 to appear as a button on one of my phones (Numbering is 100-119) otherwise as long as callers can dial 210 from the Auto Attendant and it rings to one of our extensions, that's fine. No such thing as a 128C.

First step to answering your question is to provide us with the correct model. Most of the older systems did not support any renumbering so you may not be able to do what you want.

Wow...you are all over the place here. As Upstateny wrote, there is no such thing as a 128 C class. You either have an IVX 128 (128 or 128+) or a 128 E class.

What auto attendant are you using that gives instruction to dial extension 210? Is the ESI system behind another system or auto attendant? If the message is coming from the ESI auto attendant, change the message.

Please provide accurate and complete information if you want useful help.

It's an IVX128-E. If renumbering isn't an option would it be possible to use the IVX AA so that a caller can dial 2-1-0 at the main prompt and be connected to ext#113?

Your only option would be to buy a new KSU that supports renumbering and reuse your phones.

Why is 210 so important / what is selecting 210? It might be possible to mess with the timers to allow some sort of automated call to dial the digits 2 then 1 then 0 and make it work. Or you could always say dial 1 for extension 210 then send it wherever you want.

Again, where is the instruction that the caller hears to dial 210? Is this is an advertised number, such as a tech support or help desk number, and people are dialing into another system and asked to dial 210 which you want redirected to the ESI, then you need to step back a few steps and find out where, exactly, the caller, first goes, to get that message.

It is possible to have the caller go into the ESI AA and then be sent to extension 113, however, as Upstateny wrote, it would have to be a message that directed them to dial a digit and then the ESI would send them to extension 113.

Extension 201 has been printed in a directory that has been distributed to customers. During the day, the company operator can simply transfer callers asking for X201 to ext 113 which is a working extension. We use ESI's AA for night answering. The current options are to dial the extension number (100, 101, etc.) or dial 8 for the company directory. We are trying to find a workaround to allow people to dial 2-1-0 at the AA prompt and use the functionality of the AA to transfer that caller to extension 113 which is a working extension number.

Ouch .... That's what you call poor planning!! bash

As Hal said just set up a branch to transfer to 210 or 201 or whatever extension it is and set your greeting to say dial 1 for extension 210 immediately and then go into the rest of your spiel.

Or else you are looking at a few thousand to upgrade the KSU and cards.

You have a couple of options:

1. In the initial greeting, announce "To reach extension 201, please dial 113."

2. In the AA greeting, announce "For Extension 201, dial (place an available single digit choice here)." Then program that choice to GOTO extension 113.

The first option requires no programming just a change in the AA greeting. The problem is it might be confusing. The second option resolves the problem completely.
