Just a couple of important questions. Have you logged into the IVP8 using Stratagy VM software? Do you know which version of IVP8 you have, R1 or R2? The R1 has a beige faceplate. You mentioned that you connected the serial cable to com port 1. On the R1 this is correct. On R2 it should be com 2. This is the opposite port that is used to manage the system.
The CTX type and the SMDI base port are configured in the IVP8 configuration. You will need to configure these settings if you want SMDI integration to work. You may still be able to get DTMF integration to work becasue there is less setup involved.

I can log into the IVP8 - (Version 1) with my computer and VM software. Ext. 200 thru 231 are set up as reg. Ext using an H after the #'s. Ext. 251 & 252 are set up as VM ext.

Ended up replacing the IVP8 VM unit. Now have (2) questions: 1: An incoming CO line call picks up on the first ring. I have checked ILG delay ring 1 is set to 12 sec. and 2 is set to 24 sec. Where else do I need check to adj. this so it will ring long enough for the receptionist to have a chance to answer in the day time? Also when trying to clear the msg. light with #409 (handset in cradle) the phone goes directly to Intercom or CO line depending on the ext. setting. Never clears the MSG light.
