Customer site has a SV9100 with several IP phones. The IT folks will be putting the 9100 and phones on its own VLAN. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there is much for me to do. Change addresses in the 9100 and reboot. Change the SIP server address in each IP phone. Done. Probably need to change something in UC Suite. The phones are set for auto-vlan, etc. from default. Am I missing something? All the heavy lifting will be by IT?

Thanks.
Jim

Depends. The phone system will probably be trunked on that ethernet port. Just depends what they are doing. You might have to set the VLAN tag on the phone and system. HIGHLY suggest a backup and making the other port available for ethernet access with a hard connect.

The 9100 is in building A. All the IP phones except one are in building B.

I'll be on-site tomorrow afternoon when the IT guy is there. Backing up for sure.

The VLAN conversion went pretty well. Had to visit each IP phone to enter the VLAN ID and change the SIP server address.

Most phones came up just fine. Except for three phones that can't find SIP server. Same model phones, on the same new network, double checked my entries in the phones as far as address and vlan id. IT folks and 9100 support folks can't figure it out. Why would three phones be different from the others?

The phones appear to get a dhcp connection and vlan info. According to the phone display, it says "connecting . . . (VLAN)" , the fails with "SIP server not found". If I plug in my laptop in place of the phone, I get an address from the new vlan network. Can ping the 9100.

UC suite clients also won't connect. Changed addresses in UC, etc. - but one thing at a time.

Thanks.
Jim

Clearly a switch issue. Check port settings on that switch. Easiest way is to swap a phone to a working port.

Swapped phones around. Known good phone works in that port. The problem phone does not work in any port.

Should have done it earlier, but finally did a reset on the phone and that did it! First tried a 'hard reset' but no luck. Then chose 'data clear' which then offered a factory reset choice. That is the one that made it work. Had to enter all the setup info into the phone again, but not a big deal.

Even though I had re-entered the data before, the clear data option cleared out that bit that was stuck sideways.
