I want to be able to call home to one line, enter a security code, and connect to a 2nd home line. I would then hear a dial tone and be able to use that 2nd line. What is the cheapest way to do this? Do I have to buy an elborate DISA system. It does not seem that complicated to me to design and build something to do this. I'd be willing to do that if necessary tho I would need some assistance.

May be a better phone way but an old Two Way radio tech would take an answering machine, a touch tone decoder and maybe a couple relays to lash up something that would work.
Once made a paging terminal for after hours calls out of an old answering maching TT decoder and transmitter remote.
Good Luck...

The only trouble is if its easy to do you can bet one month in the near future your phone bill will have calls to Peru and where ever else the hacker wants to call.

I think you can do what you want with one of Viking's remote access devices, like the RAD-1 or RAD-Amp. www.vikingelectonics.com

Viking electronics used to sell an optional PROMM that would allow the Rad-AMP do exactly what you want to do but they have discontinued the PROMM.

Why do you want to dial a number...put in a code to get to another number and dial out? Why not dial it from the line your on in the first place. Is it for savings on LD? I don't get the reasoning behind it. What is it your trying to accomplish by dialing into another # and dialing out.

Often times people want to ask a technical question with out revealing with the actual problem is. Please tell us what you are trying to accomplish. Personally, I use a system similar to this where I call in on one line and call back out again that I have unlimited long distance....but I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish ------------------ Phone Genius [email protected] https://www.phonesbyasap.com

I actually wanted to do this same thing a while back. I was working out of town but had to make and receive numerous phone calls on my cell. It would have been nice to setup my Vonage line at the hotel and forward it to my cell phone through the hotel analog line. I even thought about bringing along a little KSU to do this, but it wasn't worth the trouble. (LD on the cell is $.25 a minute)
