I have a customer who has an Avaya Partner ACS R5.0 and large voice mail. Several times a day extension 15 which does not have a phone connected to it will call the other extensions. The other phones will get an incoming call from ext 15 and when they answer there is just silence.

Anyone know what may cause this?

Is this another case of the customer describing a strange problem that no technician has ever verified?

If so we can guess at this forever or you can get a tech that knows what they are doing over to the site to see what's REALLY going on.

Data-tel, from your original post I take it you are the person that sold this system or a tech.

You didn't make it clear which mail you have but, that may not be the issue.

Also is the R.5 proccesor the only circuit card in the system?

Let us start with: Is there anything pluged into the ext 15 port on the control unit?

I had a R.4 do me the same way about four years ago.

Just for kicks first try rebooting the system to make sure someone hasn't done something funky with fowarding. And if there are any other cards in the system try resetting them while you have it down.

But the only way I was able to get my r.4 back was to wipe out all programing and start fresh.

Let me know what you find. Will help any way possible.

PS sounds like some people around here has had a bad day. :shhh:

Without specifics we don't know for sure which mail. I know the PC mails are the only ones labed small and large.

But I know a lot of people that call the PC mails the small and the Partner Messaging Mail the large.

As in my opinion, do not like selling the 4 box PC mail to any one. I don't think for the cost difference it does anyone any favors.

Yea, mongo I've saw some pretty strange stuff. And seems like the simplest stuff is the ones that will kick your butt the most. Thats why I always try to start with the simple stuff first.

But hey they always told me if it was easy everybody would be doing it.

Thanks for all the help. I hope this helps to clear up some of the questions.

The voice mail is Partner Voice Messaging PC Card Large.

It is a used system that he had me install and I am not familiar with the system.

There is nothing plugged into the extension 15 port on the cabinet.

I have unlpugged the system and plugged it back in after a few minutes but it still has the same issue.
