We are using a Partner Mail VS system with 8 lines.

When i pick up my phone in my office, it automatically selects line 6 - I would like it to automatically select line 4 instead, is this possible? I've read what I can find, but am not familiar with the terminology enough to know what I am looking for. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks...

You mentioned Partner mail VS - that is the voice mail system. The feature you're talking about is a communication system feature. It can be programmed from either extenstion 10 or 11.

If you have the manual, the procedure is called "automatic line selection" and it will walk you through it, but basically it's like this:

feature 0 0 left intercom left intercom
(display will read SYSTEM PROGRAM at this point)
Then right intercom. (display will read Central Telephone Prog Extension:)
Enter your extension
press **
and then in sequence (the order you want the lines to be selected) press the line keys on the phone. For example if you want line 4 then 3 then 2 and so on, press line 4, then 3, then 2, then 1, and then Intercom. I usually always will end with intercom in case all lines are busy.

Hope that helps

Thank You for your quick response...

not sure if i'm explaining myself correctly, so please excuse my inexperience with phone systems... the phone i would like to use to pick line 4 (automatically), is currently picking up on line 1. - here's the tricky part "more than one phone in our office picks up line 1 as the default line" if i change this will it change for all the other phones as well?

Thanks for your patience...

If you are talking about having the phone automatically select line 4 when the handset is lifted, then automatic line selection is what you want. It will not affect other extensions, only the extension you program it for.
