Can I dictate how much memory (or minutes/hours) an extension has for voice mail with a Partner Messaging Release 7.0 Module?

I am currently using a Partner Voice Messaging PC card that just splits up the minutes evenly among the mailboxes.

Thanks mdaniel

From what I have read so far the Partner Messaging Release 7.0 Module requires a license card to operate and they come in 2, 4, and 6 port version. The number of ports dictate the number of simultaneous connection you can have to the voice mail system.

Is there a way to get more than 6 voice mail ports on one system or is 6 ports the max I can ever get?

6 ports would work great for us right now but we keep growing and there will come a time when 6 ports will not cut it anymore.

Nope...6 is the limit.

If your needs go beyond 6 ports, the next step might be to upgrade to either a Merlin Magix or IP-500 system. The Avaya Merlin Messaging, which is used with the Merlin Magix, will handle up to 12 ports.

I think what is little understood is that a "connection" lasts for as long as the system answers and transfers a call. Then it is no longer in the picture. So unless your customer expects more than 6 calls at exactly the same time or more than 6 employees retrieving the messages at the same time (or a combination of the two) they won't have a problem. In my experience with installing as small as two port systems rarely was there a problem.

This may sound strange in the face of the 10, 12 or even unlimited ports some systems tout but in reality this is the way it works and you and your customer need to realize that. All those ports aren't really necessary.

Just keep in mind that the Merlin Magix was discontinued a few years ago.

He has a 2 port Pc card? Hello

I think it's 57 minutes total. Reducing the amount of mailboxes does gain a little on a PC card mail. But not much

It defaults at 8 mailboxes.

Yes but his question was about a R7 not his PC!
