I had always assumed that if we had a hrdware failur on the AUDIX that as long as I had my daily backup AVAYA would arrive with a drive, with the proper OS, I would hand them our local backups and all would be good. I questioned AVAYA on that and they said we are supposed to have all the OS disks, patches etc. Is that true? I've never even seen them. Can I image the drive with Ghost, Drive Image or some other product? Same with the CMS server. Thank you in advance.

well I've never had an Audix HD crash, but I usually keep the installation CD's which I have as last year I needed to upgrade every Audix to R5.1.55 becuase of DST. The boot disk that came with the audix. And finally my daily backup. I would think that should be everything I need to recover.
As far as CMS goes, you should have your daily backup on tape, your montly admin backup on tape and installation CD's.

Six years ago I had a "fire" in my Audix cabinet. My recollection tells me something shorted out and caused a small fire to burn in a small section of the cabinet.
Avaya replaced all of the parts and the only thing they asked me for was my backup tape.
For some reason my backup tape would not read so I had to rebuild every single mailbox from scratch. Ouch!
Could have been worse though. It could have taken out the entire carrier cabinet or the PBX Room or even the building. Luckily the unit that burnt was well contained.
I now make two backups. One for the vault and one for offsite. Remembering to update them is half the battle.

I haven't had much luck with ghosting hard drives however I have hard drives loaded and ready to plug and play, all software loads for Intuity Audix Map5P,Map40P,& Map100P, Also with the 5.1.48 and later software loads you have the FTP backup feature. So many cases when the system hard drive goes down, we find the tape backup to be bad, with the ftp backup feature the backups are stored on a server as well as the tape. Call me Chris 303-593-1763 I can help.

Yes, you can image your hard drives. But I'm not sure if either of the programs you mentioned will work. If they only work on fat16, fat32, and ntfs file systems; they will not work. I'd suggest a "forensic" image - each-and-every byte.
