Hello. I just set up an old Meridian 616 and the install went smooth except for the caller ID. I understand that caller ID will only show up at 1 designated extension. Every time I call in, I get nothing on the display. Even when I do the old Feat. 811, it just shows me the line its coming in on. Im running a Merridian 616 with DR5 software. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

have you verified you are getting caller ID info from the provider?

Yes. The customer has informed me that they pay for caller ID from the phone company. Does this system require a caller id box to be in line with the incomming co lines?

Monitor the incoming CO lines. You should hear a burst of data between the first and second rings. Also make sure the customer isn't answering the calls too quickly.

just because they are paying for it, doesn't mean they are getting it. Try chucks way to see if the info is coming across, or get a caller ID tester. We were talking earlier about a couple of the new testers having digit grabbers and caller ID testers, the harris t-25 and the Ranger.

The old legacy systems require a Call Indentification Interface Box (CII)that detects and converts incoming CLASS signaling info for up to six lines equipped on the Compact KSU, eight lines on the Modular KSU and passes the info through one dedicated Norstar station port. They came in two versions, a CII for 8 lines for a Modular 8x24 and a C6 for Compact6x16 systems. Must be used w/DR5 software.

Thanks for the responses. Im pretty sure the caller id service is good. Thier old setup was with a regular 2 line analog set w/ caller ID display and it was working fine or so they say. I'll check it out tomorrow. I need to get the software version number to see if they can get a voice mail system add-on. Any suggestions for a simple voice mail system?

about the only real option for voice mail is a Startalk flash. I should work quite well.

Make sure you have a "DS" KSU if you intend to use voice mail.
