A few months ago a customer of ours purchased a KXTA624 with a TVS50 VM.
Every now and then, all the lights on all the phones start blinking dimmly and they can't use any buttons on the phones.
At first we discovered the tech forgot to ground it, so we did, of course, and the problem went away for months, then started again. We changed the ksu, and it still happens every so often.
Also this same customer has mesages delivered late, like a day late sometimes. The time stamp is accurate and he checkes his mail regularly, but sometimes there's a message from the day before or a few hours ago.
We also replaced his TVS50, but it still happens.
Of course the vendor says the equipment was fine when he got it back.
Cables are new (with the install) and have been troubleshot(changed pairs, etc...).
hmmmmmmm.........
Punch down all your damn pairs!..........(please).

It's possible that neither system, the 624 or the TVS50 was defaulted in the beginning. it's also indicative of a field wiring problem, specificly the data pair. I would default both systems and reprogram from scratch. are you splitting pairs or does each jack have it's own cable?. Also see if the TVS is out dialing, you may have been hacked (or phreeked) what's the Config. on this, 3x8, 6x16 or 6 x 24? What's the version?

Config is 6 X 16. According to the customer's file, the KSU's a -4. I don't think the Tvs is dialing out. this guys is very staunch business man (city councel, Rotary, etc...). If he were being hacked we'd hear about it the minute he got his phone bill. Yes the cables are new home runs. And we did change pairs and all the routine stuff in case of damaged cables. So if we need to start from scratch, what's the prceedure to default the system?? KSU + VM? See the previous post [This message has been edited by MrGemini (edited June 02, 2004).]

this could be RF interference from something on the electric side with a motor. Or a phone or the KSU could be in proximity of smoe other RF generator that is random.
