I'm looking for a wall station/desk that mounts directly below a wall mount phone allowing the phone user to take notes etc. The unit should also have a slot below the work surface for a phone book. Is there anyone out there that makes such a thing?

Yeah, they're called wall mount phone booths :-)
Lower your chair closer to the floor when you get prices.

Altho Carl is right about $$, we can all probably dream up a pretty simple shelf/writing platform out of 10-15 bucks worth of wood. But labor, and especially the equipment and knowhow, is where it all goes wrong, I guess. I'll bet it could be mass produced for 35-40 bucks retail, but where are the buyers, that's the problem! You might look around at Home Depot or someplace like that, and maybe home decoration stores. I know I've seen them for 30-35 bucks! Of course, I'll bet you are talking INDUSTRIAL strength, as in steel. Then you start racking up the bucks! Let's see, 2-3 pieces cut to pattern, AND bent to shape, AND welded together, AND product liability insurance, and, and, and. Hmmm, no wonder you need to sit down before you open the catalog! John C.

Google "wall mount writing desk". $173.00 plus shipping. Geez. I think you could do better with some shelf brackets and some stained plywood. Good luck.

When I worked at the telco, we had some gray painted metal structures with writing shelves. I guess we could have used the lanyard for the phone book, but the book was probably only 100 pages :-). The writing shelf was angled and the whole structure was butt ugly. This was in the days before RJ anything, so you just drilled holes in the plate to mount your phone and mount the shelf to the ironwork/wall.
I bet even today that stuff would cost about $100. All of a sudden $150-200 for a nice looking wood booth with a directory shelf doesn't look so bad. Of course if money were no object....

I had a local cabinet maker produce 6 nice wall mount units for me -- very nicely done -- for about $125.00 each a couple of years ago. They worked great and looked professional.

Tell us the enviroment the phone will be used in. If it's a bar or public place it'll have to be heavy duty. If it just a residence or light use, like said above, a simple, nicely finished shelf with a book slot would do.
Your in Amish country. One of them guy's could make you something in a snap, (if it's wood).

The application is general. Usually it's warehouse space where these things are needed. I have a grocery store right now that needs them. I'm going to check into having a wood shop make them since it doesn't look like they are commercially available. Thanks for the help!
