some more info: we expanded the system after it was installed, adding 4 more lines but connected them directly to the answering system not through my KSU as before. the computer shows that these lines disconnect and reset for another call when you hangup (theres an onscreen display of each line status for the answerer) so i think that the computer know what to do when the line hangs up. i put delayed ringing on the lines that are auto answered by the KSU, so if the answering system doesnt answer, the line rings and we can go check the answering sysytem computer. i kindof like to have the first 3 (original) lines routed through the KSU to keep an eye on the system status because other than the display of whether the line is playing or not is all you get out of the computer. this way i can tell that its doing what it should be. there is little to no setup done with the mouse and keyboard, intstead, you dial into the system and enter a password to have administrative access. so unless people know how to tweak dialogic cards (which i could handle with guidance, but havent tried) im almost sure the changes i have to make to get this to work are made to my toshiba switch. i could just repunch the lines into the station jacks and bypass the switch, but as i said, its easier to know that the computer needs attention when the phone shows what its doing. something else to know is that the comany that provided the answering system to us has disappeared from the face of the earth. but i dont really think that the computer is the problem.
