Sometimes when I come into the office, the phones are ringing and it's our 3rd Sip trunk and the CID shows asterisk on it. When I am finally able to answer the timer normally shows several minutes on it. Has anyone else had this problem before? We are using Broadvox sip service and running a 7100 4.46d. With a mix of digital and ip phones.

I think it sounds like someone is trying to exploit/hack your system on sip port 5060. Is there anyone on the other end of the call when you answer?

Yes. The best way I believe to handle it is to build a firewall rule that only allows inbound traffic on port 5060 from your Broadvox's IP. As otter says it is a Astrisk/FreeSWITCH device trying to exploit the system.

MMC210 DID error tone.

Turn this setting on will prevent this from happening, as the system will reject any destination that isn't in the Indial table (I recommend you put a catch all for the indial range if isdn)

Or you can turn on carrier exclusive i think it is in the SIP trunk settings.

Be careful using Carrier exclusive, if your itsp uses multiple ip addresses you will only get one way calling.

No there is no one there. Just dead silence and the timer has been running for almost an hour at times.

Carrier Exclusive is a new feature added to the software. Find it in 5.2.12 If you are communicatiing with one SIP provider, use this. It stopped all our Asterisk messages on a dozen or so clients. We thought at first that is was our our Asterisk Server that offers SIP services to our base, but after I complained enough to Korea, this update comes out. As usual, make a backup, then a change, then a test....etc...
