I would first test connectivity from the LAN. Telnet to the email server and make sure you get a response.

From a command prompt type "telnet smtp.aol.com 587"

If you don't get a response you will not be able to relay mail.

AOL does use encryption, so this will not work on the SVMI products. Only the embedded systems work with encryption.

Here are the AOL server settings:

AOL Mail SMTP server address: smtp.aol.com
AOL Mail SMTP user name: Your AOL Mail screen name (what comes before "@aol.com" in your AOL Mail address; if your address is [email protected], for example, the corresponding screen name is "me")
AOL Mail SMTP password: Your AOL Mail password
AOL Mail SMTP port: 587
AOL Mail SMTP TLS/SSL required: yes

Make sure you have entered a DNS server or you will need to use "205.188.186.137" instead of "smtp.aol.com"

Also, it is a good idea to set the reply to address in system wide parameters. This is the address that will be used when non-subscribers to the voice-mail leave messages. You run the risk of the email server rejecting the email or considering it spam if you do not use a valid reply to address.

Hope this helps.
