I remember reading somewhere that Shortel can page over phone speakers.. and do off hook call announce, two very important features !

somebody told me it cant..

I have liked the shortl product, from what I can see they have nice looking phones but 90% of our customers couldnt live without these features

also curious if they are sip or megaco? I know sip protocol is very limiting feature wise and that could be the problem....

Sip on Asterisk can do page through the phone speakers on sets that support it. **+ext number or group number. OCA on the other hand I don't know.

If you are thinking about picking up the product why not call SHoretel? I am sure they would be happy to have a discussion of why you should sell their product, and they could answer all your questions..

In the director go to call control and paging, add a paging grp, assign an extension for the grp and add your members. Just be careful about having 100 phones in a grp, because you use a lot of bandwidth and the quality may not be there for that many phones.

to add to MGere. You will need to make an extension list, then assign the extension list to the paging group. If you are looking to Intercom somebody press the Intercom button then dial their extension

Yup, thats what I meant when I said add your members. One thing to look out for when using the intercom, you have to make sure that they have permission in their user grp.
