It is always best to specify "WHICH" old prostar. There is the 816, the 1232, 56EX120.
If I remember right, resetting the password without defaulting the system on these three systems entailed a faxed letterhead to Samsung (which is now a VERY expensive 900# call) and them giving you one four digit number for one specific minute according to their algorithm.
Much easier to default the system and reprogram unless you have hundreds of speed dial numbers.
