So... I've got 2 dk's with piou, I can get smdr info out of the lower port on both of them, and one of them I can get a CODE and MODE prompt out of (which I can then do what I want with) but the other... just sits there when I plug into the supposed TTY port. the switch is set to tty not modem, there's no modem on the card to get in the way... it's not the card, because I can put either card in the system that'll talk to me and they both work... The newer system has a much newer (relatively) processor, so... did the remote/local tty procedures change somewhere between a rctua1 and an rctua4? on the 1, i can talk to the switch, on the 4... it's like there's nothing there.. thanks for any enlightenment. skunky
