I'd question the 3 pair concept. The set models he had previously posted on are 1 pair from the CO. They are considered 3 pair at the station end because they require a 6 conductor line cord as the voice goes across the center pins and the power for the display and speakerphone use the 3rd pair of the line cord. A P set adapter or test set will give dial tone on just the tip and ring pair- a standard butt set of course will not. I just gave away my last new P Phone adapter that worked with standard butt sets. They are now as rare as a competent politician. There is 1 manufacturer left out of Canada that makes a butt set that will test P Phone lines natively. They only make them in large batches as needed. Very expensive. https://www.telephonetools.com/prod...;osCsid=14df6d16cc0e9ed835051d8346951407https://www.dplwireless.com/telephone-test-and-interface-equipment(SBI-145 Butt set) which I use
