5ESS is all I have ever heard it called. Why do they need a manual. Are they using C.O. centrex services?

You got me, they asked if I could get them a manual. From what your telling me this is just a switch inside the co office that gives centrex features to the lines. Am I right in assuming this? If so all they need is the centrex feature codes from thier provider.

It is the main C.O. switch,so centrex is the only thing I can think of that they would need a manual for. They maybe using centrex lines straight into their system or using centrex sets from C.O.,if it is the latter, they will need to know what type of set they have. There best bet is to go to their provider.I have manuals for the DMS series centrex sets, but don't think they are the same.See if they can get a model number off of a set.Should be MXXXX(x=numerals).

5ESS is a Lucent switch, use for CO, end office and for private use. The State of Texas used to have (no more) there own 5E. To my knowledge there is no "manual" there is a large set of techical manuals, many volumes. Think your best bet would be Lucent or whoever is maintaining them now.
