I am trying to change some system programming by using Partner PC administration software on a ACS 6.0 processor with auto attendant. The site is about an hour away so I am trying to do it remotely. The problem I am having is the auto attendant take 6 rings to answer and I can't put enough commas (limited by room in the dialed number box) for delay in the dial string before dialing 776 for the ACS modem. I can dial the number and manually transfer to the modem but then my PC administration software won't connect. When I dial using the PC administration software I here about 4 rings before the software dials the modems ext. number, but the line is still ringing. The remote administration software worked fine when the auto attendant was set for 3 rings. Is there anyway to add more delay before dialing the Parnter's modem?

I take it you are not using night mode ringing. what I do is setup the last line to be covered by the modem at night. Maybe just set the last line ring less than 6 times. Or have them put it into night mode, really no reason to ring 6 times

You could call and have the operator transfer you.

Connect to a PARTNER system via an operator

To use this procedure, your modem and telephone must be connected to the same telephone line via a bridging adapter. (The telephone and modem are connected to the bridging adapter.) You will place the call from this telephone.
To connect to a PARTNER system via an operator:

1.Click the Connect button on the Toolbar.

The PARTNER PC Administration Connection Options dialog box appears.

2.Select the Operator Assisted option button, and then choose the Next button.

The Operator-Assisted Dial-up Connection dialog box appears.

3.Place a call to the PARTNER system.

The call is answered.

4.Perform one of the following steps:

If the PARTNER system has a Remote Access card, ask the person at the PARTNER system to transfer you to extension 76.

If the PARTNER system has an external modem (PARTNER R7.0 only), ask the person at the PARTNER system to transfer you to the extension to which the external modem is connected.

NOTE:
Tell the person at the PARTNER system to hang up the telephone and turn off the speaker (if it is on) as soon as the transfer is initiated (for example, after 76 is dialed).

5.Hang up your telephone and turn off the speaker (if it is on) when the person starts the transfer.
6.Choose the OK button.

The Dialup Session message box appears. When the link between your modem and the modem in the PARTNER system is established, the message box closes, and the PC Administration Password dialog box appears.

7.Enter your remote access password, and then choose the OK button.

A message box appears stating that you have logged into the PARTNER system successfully.

8.Choose the OK button.

Thanks for the advice. The system does not have night mode programmed, they wanted the auto attendant to act as an overflow for the attendant, the reason for 6 rings before answer. I was trying to do this after hours because it is a small motel and I didn't want to drop calls when the database is restored during normal business hours. I guess I will have to make a visit, or use operator assist, just seems Avaya should be a little more flexible in being able to add delay in the dial string in the unlikely case that it is setup for 6 rings for the auto attendant to answer.

I found a work around on this problem. I used the automated attendant, once the automated attendant answered I dialed 776 and clicked ok just like being manually transferred, once the modem answered I hung up the phone I called from and I was connected to the ACS modem and prompted for a password. I could then retrive, change and restore my translations.
