My customer has 5400 series phones and wants the 1416 model in order to see all lines on all phones (doctors office). Besides the programming, can the 5400's be swapped out for the 1400's without any additional hardware changes?
Thanks in advance.

Yes. But I would also upgrade to latest 5.0 release.

Thanks. I did a check for an available update, and the current version matched the available version, both versions listed were blue in color, which (I believe) means that everything is current, right?

I believe the latest R5 is 5.0 (26). All you did was confirm that the control matched the version loaded on PC running Manager.

@escomm12 - I gave bad advice. 1416 requires a minimum of R6 to function. So, you'd need an upgrade license in addition to the phones.

No, you can upgrade to r6 for free. 6.1 would be a charge..

If your upgrading go all the way to R7 or R8 when it comes out. With the new phones give them the latest verison rel.

Would it be more cost effective just to add a sidecar?

From the R6 product description:

Upgrade License

If upgrading to Release 6 from a previous release an Upgrade License must be present. This comes in three variants:
• standard upgrade to 6.0.
• upgrade to 6.0 for small sites up to 32 users.
• multiple upgrades for several future releases (up to and including Release 10).
