We have a customer with a Definity G3siV6 and they installed a new HP fax/scanner/printer on a DID from a PRI.
Now they are getting phantom ringing from the fax extensions at the attendant console periodically.
This did not happen with the old fax machine.
The fax machine can send and receive OK and we don't know what is causing the ringback.
Any idea what is causing this? TIA

Is this a new "did" extension ?? if so check on the extension page and make sure maint test is turned off !!..on analog stations that can cause some wierd things to happen especially with cordless phones and fax and modems.... Other than that don't know what might cause your fax to dial "0" or the attnd extension number...

It is not a new DID, just a new machine. Is there a different analog card from the TN791 card to be used for fax/modem lines? I see there is a TN793 CP, is that supposed to be used for fax/modem applications?

I would find out if someone has forgotten to dial a 9, when they sent a fax.

The dial 9 is programmed into the machine.

A 791 will work..( did for the old one right? ) it's used for hospitality for neon lights on analogs sets..not to many switches use them..the 793 will also work..but the pack shouldn't have anything to do with your fax machine dialing a "0" I would still suspect the fax machine...I'm sure you have checked the COR and all to make sure it's not restricted...is it partitioned to a certain route pattern that may be inserting digits...i.e: "0" before dialing out.???
