I have to go out on site to an old Partner ACS system and the customer want us to set up automatic routing to a particular phone line when someone dials 911 from the facility i.e. Nurses station picks up and dials 911 and we want the call to automatically pick up line 7 in the telephone system and dial out. All other calls would use lines 1-6. Can this be done?

You can set the ALS for that ext to grap line 7 first.
But if line 7 is already in use, that isn't going to help.

You could assign line 7 to that ext only.

So it there no automatic route selection capability in the Partner system? This needs to be something that automatically happens when a caller dials 911. They have so much turnover that they are concerned that a new person won't know to press the appropriate line when making an emergency call.

This facility thought they would save a buck by getting voip lines from some unknown carrier that doesn't support e911 reporting to the local emergency response center. So they have one line from the local carrier, and the rest of there lines are with this voip provider.

No, just ALS (Automatic Line Selection).
Meaning, when you lift the handset the system will grab Line 7 automatically.

Thanks for the input mdaniel.

Now we are trying to figure out if we can put this line in its own line group and then program a speed dial button on to each phone that will be labeled 911 and when pressed, will grab that trunk group and dial 911. Still reading the manual...

The Partner system is a great, easy to use system normally set up in Key mode but does have a PBX mode to dial 9 if you have alot of lines and not alot of buttons. But Auto Route Selection using tables and selecting trunks out is not part of the Partner system. Partner was designed for most of the small and mid sized market. Most companies who need ARS normally needed a full blown pbx, hense the legend or magix back in the day, or the ip office today

OK, here is a thought.

Restrict line 7 to where it can only dial 911 and label in red "911 only"

Then put a auto dialer on line 7.

That way when someone presses the line 7 button on the phones the call is automatically made to 911. And by restricting the line in the ACS nobody could use it for anything else.

Just a thought.............

You can't restrict on a per line basis, only a per station basis. You could do a loop around with another line and station, so that pressing line 7 selects a station that selects the real line 7, and that station is allowed 911 only. You would have to take 911 out of the Emergency List, so no one would be able to dial it on the other 6 lines, which is a huge liability, and set up a disallow list of "wild" and an allow list of 911 to assign to this loop around station.

Good luck, advise the customer to go back to real dial tone!!!

(Edit) - just realized that although you can do the loop around, and restrict line 7 to ONLY dialing 911, you can't stop extensions from dialing 911 on the other lines (or they couldn't dial it on the loop around line). I suppose that you could program the loop around station to be an external hotline, with a few pauses and then 911, so if you go off hook and wait, it will dial 911 but give you time to hang up if that's not what you meant to do.

Maybe just forget the whole thing!!

Yes, looping would be the only way to restict line 7. But it would work.

I agree the customer should go back to a "real" phone company, but everyone is tring to save a buck these dayes. We are seeing it more and more everyday around here.
